The requirement was a system to inspect multilayer pipe (Ø 16-36mm) through 360°, during extrusion at a rate of 50 m/min.
Aesthetic and/or shape defects must be identified, such as dark marks, surface clumps or sags, roughness or the absence of coating material.
A vision system with three cameras and a special lighting system inspects the entire surface of the pipes in real time. The images are captured and processed at a rate of 500 per second and, if defects are detected, they are saved to disk along with the date and time for subsequent evaluation. The system can also operate an automatic cutting machine if available.
